NWOYA DISTRICT LAUNCHES DATA COLLECTION UNDER SPEAR

In abid to enhance local economic planning and service delivery, Nwoya District, In collaboration with the Uganda Bureau of Statistics (UBOS), has rolled out a comprehensive data collection exercise under the State of Parish Economy and Asset Register (SPEAR).
The initiative which was officially launched recently, aims to gather detailed and reliable data that will serve as the foundation for future district development strategies.
The exercise which is set to run through November will focus on collecting vital information across a variety of sectors, including agriculture, business, education, health and community challenges. This data will provide an accurate snapshot of the parish economy and serve as a crucial tool for local government to make informed decisions.
Local leaders including Parish Chiefs, Community development officers and heads of departments are spear heading the data collection. They will engage with focus groups composed of LC1 chairpersons, women and youth representatives, persons with disabilities (PWD), opinion leaders and cultural leaders to ensure a comprehensive approach to gathering information.
The information collected through the SPEAR initiative will play a key role in preparing budget framework papers for local governments, further underscoring the importance of the exercise.
This proactive approach to data collection and planning is expected to significantly improve the district's capacity to deliver services and create sustainable economic growth. Through the SPEAR initiative, the district is taking an important step towards building a more transparent, efficient and inclusive governance structure.
